It’s that time again! Let’s get into the favorites. You’ll notice a new addition at the bottom of the post you don’t want to miss. 👁️👄👁️
TT’s Top Three:
Jolie Shower Filter: You saw this water filter in an ad on Instagram. I saw this water filter in an ad on Instagram. I remember my friend Megan, who is an incredible hairstylist, telling me years ago I needed a shower filter, so I finally pulled the trigger and y’all? SHE WAS RIGHT. It has gotten to the point I don’t use my sink water, I exclusively use the Jolie shower water…it’s that good. I originally got it for my hair, but have truly noticed a difference with my skin. Within the span of a week, I have completely healed my acne. My blackheads are noticeably diminished. I’m glowy. I rarely (if ever) get a zit, and when I do, it’s usually because I’m picking at my face. I will forever sing the praises of the Jolie water filter. It’s something we should all be able to have access to.
Living Libations Best Skin Ever Sea Buckthorn Oil: I purchased this from The Green Ray (my favorite!) in Nashville and started using it around the same time as the Jolie, so I’m not sure if it’s one or the other (or a combination of both) I can wholly attribute to my skin clearing up. Needless to say, I am obsessed! When I purchased the oil, my friend Rebecca sent me Danna’s profile to learn more about how to use it. Danna suggests going 7-10 days only using the oil and the cotton round method. I cannot say enough good things about this product. I posted about it recently on Instagram and so many friends said it was a holy grail product for them too. I love it so much I might make a complete switch over to Living Libations! I’m going to add the Royal Rose CoQ10 Serum to my routine first and see if I have the same amazing results.
ABEL Green Cedar Perfume: You can hear all about this perfume and why I love it in a video I recently posted, but long story short: Sam was using this and I couldn’t stop asking him what he was wearing. It is light and crisp, but the ambroxide in it makes it really irresistible, especially if you’re a fan of skin scents. Fragrances are tough, especially when you can’t smell them through a screen, but if you like Byredo Super Cedar, CDG Wonderwood, or Le Labo Santal 33, I think you’d love this. Plus it’s a clean beauty brand and totally unisex!
Cremo Body Wash in Palo Santo: Speaking of unisex fragrances and Santal 33, this body wash is pretty much a dupe for the cult favorite perfume. They’re not identical, but smell so similar. The only difference is this one is $10 at Target. It’s a good size, has a nice lather, and the packaging looks nice in your shower. Tens all around!
Jason Isbell: Running with Our Eyes Closed: Sam used to be the Road Manager for Jason Isbell. Even though he was away from home a ton, I have the fondest memories of his time with Jason, the entire 400 Unit, and his crew. As a perk, I had the pleasure of attending a lot of shows and seeing these insanely talented human beings up close and in their element on more than one occasion. And while it isn’t what I typically gravitate toward, I’ve learned to adore Jason’s music and the authenticity in his songwriting. This HBO documentary was such a cool look into his world (and Amanda’s!) I really loved it, and I think you would too.
Brownlee Tini Tank: I hadn’t experienced any of Brownlee’s clothing firsthand until I had the opportunity to celebrate the launch of their “Back to Basics” collection last week. I wore this tank to their launch event in white and loved it. You all know I’m super picky about basics too. What I especially love is how supportive it is, while still looking elevated and chic. While you’re browsing for basics on the SKIMS website, don’t be so quick to write off Brownlee.
How to develop “good” taste in fashion (Part 2) by Subrina Heyink: At this point, this is just a Subrina Heyink fan account, but her most recent newsletter on what it means to develop good taste has me thinking completely differently during this wardrobe editing season I’m in. I loved reading more about the examples she provides comparing Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s style to the recreations done by Rouje in their 2021 campaign. Subrina makes some strong arguments, as always.
MERIT Shade Slick Tinted Lip Oil: I have this in the color “Taupe” and it is the perfect “your lips but better” shade. The formula is hydrating, not sticky and looks good under just about any lip liner. I also love that it’s a clean beauty brand.
All Eyes Are On:
If there’s one thing about me, it’s that I’m not going to recommend something unless it’s an absolute ten. That being said, there are so many items I have my eye on, whether they’re brands, books, products, and the like. I wanted to add this section as a precursor to future TT’s Top Threes, so you can see what I actually followed through with purchasing and what ended up being a hit. You might even decide to try a few of these items before I can get to them!
Vyrao: I have my eye on every. single. item. from this line. It is one of the first brands I’ve seen at the intersection of beauty and energy in such a thoughtful, elevated, beautiful way. Not only do the products look gorgeous, each one is intentionally crafted and energized by the brand’s in-house healer. Each fragrance contains a herkimer diamond which is known for purifying and raising energy. I am SO intrigued, I may just have to bite and try out some of their offerings.
The Millennial Decorator and Nou: I’m sure you’ve heard of The Millennial Decorator, as her vintage wares have been seen in collaboration with Matilda Djerf, Mirror Palais, and the like. The brands do drops of insanely beautiful vintage shoes, clothes, and accessories. The pricing feels fair, although not a complete deal. And while the Millennial Decorator seems like the seasoned vet, Nou is “nouer” on the scene. Both, however, offer stunning selections. I’ve been keeping my eye on them both trying to decipher what’s a need as I rebuild my wardrobe. If you want to look more into that process, I’ve posted a video about it here.
La Manso Tempus Orus Ring: This is literally what my ring dreams are made of. Can I justify spending $300+ dollars on a ring? Likely not, but would you LOOK AT IT?
Bathing Culture Cosmic Rainbow Towels: These towels are a bit of me. (I’ve clearly been watching too much Love Island UK, I’m not even really sure what this phrase means!?) Needless to say, I love these so much. In doing research for today’s newsletters, I also found this more affordable version on Amazon. I don’t know which ones I’ll go for, but the moral of the story is that I’m a sucker for towels.
Chell Fish Fig Plate: Another thing I’m a sucker for? Handmade ceramics, and these ones from Michele Mirisola are to die for. The entire Instagram account looks like the dinner party of my dreams. I’d throw in a couple of these cups from Bona Drag that I’ve been eyeing as well.
Some other items on the wish list include: vintage sunglasses (I saw this TikTok and it revived all my Y2K designer sunglasses fantasies), tickets to Parade on Broadway (because your girl LOVES Ben Platt and watches his performance of “Waving Through a Window” at the Tonys at least every quarter), and this Saks Potts Foxy Coat, which has been the number one item on my wish list for years now.
I’ll be sure to follow up on any and all things I decide to pull the trigger on. In the meantime, do tell: what’s on your favorites/wish list?
